Burglars hit handbags and post office

Carlow county has been beleagured by burglaries in the last week. No less than four burglaries are being investigated by gardaí in Carlow town and Tullow. On September 11, a woman had her handbag pilfered in Cassy’s Beauty Salon in Tullow town. A total of €1,500 cash was stolen from the women’s bag in the store at around 2pm. On the same day, at St Joseph’s National School, a video recorder was taken when thieves forced a window open on the premises on St Joseph’s Road to gain entry. On Saturday, September 13 at around 3.30am, the main Post Office in Carlow town was tampered with when trespassers gained entry through an unlocked window. Though nothing was taken, gardaí are seeking anyone who has any information about the incident. Meanwhile, on Sunday evening, September 14 at around 8pm, two handbags were stolen from the kitchen of a house in Mill Race on the Old Burrin Road.
